Abstract

The uses of New Ancient Greek in the 16th paratexts to ancient Greek drama is constant. In this context,we delve more specifically into the practice of bilingual Latin-Greek paratexts,which seem to present a unique vantage point for examining the links between Neo-Latin and New Ancient Greek during the 16th century. After providing abrief overview of the uses of New Ancient Greek in the XVIth c. paratexts toAncient Drama, we focus on the case of Florent Chrestien and his bilingualpoems. We demonstrate that the French humanist provides compositions more than translations, in a context of aemulatio with other humanists and Ancient poets.
